Sean Combs Arrested Amid Sexual Assault and Human Trafficking Investigation
Music mogul Sean Combs has been taken into custody, his lawyer Mark Anifilo confirmed, following a months-long investigation into allegations of sexual assault and human trafficking.
Combs, who had been in New York City since last week, was arrested and detained by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) at approximately 8:15 p.m. on the 16th at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Manhattan, according to a source familiar with the matter.
While details of the charges against Combs are currently unknown, his lawyer emphasized that those around him support his client’s innocence and that he is cooperating with investigators.
Combs was previously the subject of a months-long HSI sex trafficking investigation, which led to searches of his homes in Los Angeles, California, and Miami, Florida, in March.
Since November of last year, 10 lawsuits have been filed against Combs, with nine accusing him of direct sexual assault. Combs has previously denied all allegations of wrongdoing in various lawsuits.
However, security camera footage released earlier this year showed Combs violently assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassandra Ventura, at a Los Angeles hotel in March 2016. Following the release of the footage, Combs publicly apologized.
Lawyers for Combs’ three accusers expect more victims to come forward.
