Kim Mi-ryeo shared the story of her second son, who was diagnosed with a rare condition known as collagen deficiency. Reflecting on her experience, she confessed, “While I took great care of my firstborn, I can’t help but wonder if I let my guard down with my second child.” She also mentioned, “Right after my second son’s birth, I sensed something was amiss.”
Describing the situation further on the ‘Oh Eun-young Counseling Center’, Kim Mi-ryeo said, “I immediately realized my second child had a small chin and a larger-than-normal tongue. I had to rush to the hospital where he was born, as it was a renowned facility.” She continued, revealing her constant worries, unable even to focus on her postnatal care. She lamented, “I felt utterly miserable, blaming myself for my second child’s struggles. I believed it was my fault.”
Jeong Seong-yoon, Kim Mi-ryeo’s husband, added to the narrative, sharing the severity of the situation at that time. He recalled the hospital’s distressing prognosis, stating, “They informed us that our second child might not survive the night.” Feeling a deep sense of responsibility as a spouse, Jeong Seong-yoon expressed, “Naturally, I too believed it was my fault. Witnessing my wife’s overwhelming circumstances, incapable of self-care due to her demanding schedule, made me feel a profound sorrow.”
