Natasha Collier: From UCSC to Comedy Star

NewsDirectory3: ⁤ Natasha, thanks⁢ for taking the⁣ time to chat with us. You’re headlining Bruno’s⁢ Comedy Night this Friday, taking the stage in your⁣ hometown of Santa Cruz.

Natasha Collier: Thanks for having me! It’s always special performing in Santa Cruz. It’s where‍ I started,⁤ so ⁢there’s a lot of ⁢love there.

NewsDirectory3: ⁤You started doing standup⁤ pretty young,⁣ while studying at UC Santa Cruz.‍ What prompted you to take that⁣ leap?

Natasha Collier: It was kind of spontaneous, actually. I saw an open mic night advertised and decided to give ⁢it a try. I wasn’t planning on making comedy a career, but something clicked. ⁢I loved the interaction with the audience, the challenge of crafting ⁤jokes, and making people laugh.

NewsDirectory3: And now you’re a full-time comedian, touring the country and performing at top⁤ clubs. What ‍has that journey been like?

Natasha Collier: It’s been ‍a wild ride. There are definitely challenges—the constant travel, the hustle of ‍getting gigs—but the rewards are worth it. Hearing people laugh at⁤ your jokes, connecting with audiences, and sharing your perspective with the world… it’s incredible.

NewsDirectory3: Can you tell us about your comedy style?⁣ What can audiences expect at Bruno’s this Friday?

Natasha Collier: I like to⁣ find the humor in everyday life.My material is observational, a little self-deprecating, and hopefully relatable.I think people will connect ⁤with the stories I tell and the way I see the world.

NewsDirectory3: What advice would ⁤you give to ⁤young people interested⁤ in pursuing comedy?

Natasha ⁤Collier: Don’t be afraid to get up there and try it. Open mics are a great way to start. Be yourself, ‍write jokes that are authentic to you, and keep practicing. It takes time⁢ and dedication, but it’s so rewarding.
