The Minister of Culture, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo was visiting the village of communities this Tuesday, April 30, 2024, on the occasion of the guest of honor country’s day. He was accompanied by his counterpart from Niger, Colonel Major Abdourahamane Amadou. Objective, discover the cultural heritage of Niger.

Nigerien culture was in the spotlight this Tuesday at the communities’ village. Responding to the invitation of the authorities as guest country of honor, Niger came with a strong delegation. Between exhibitions of decorative objects, tasting of traditional dishes of the country, and demonstration of dance steps, it is the culture of Niger in all its diversity which was magnified, in the communities’ village. “We were able to appreciate a sample of the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the sister country of Niger. Whether in terms of culinary art, we have seen the know-how of the country. Afterwards we were able to appreciate the sounds inspired by the culture of Niger,” said Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo.

As for the Nigerien minister, he said he was satisfied with this day dedicated to his country. For him, it was an opportunity to show the richness of Nigerian culture. “We are present as the guest country of honor of this day specially dedicated to Niger which had the opportunity to present its culinary art in all its diversity and also the performances of some artists from Niger, to sketch the dance steps with Nigerian sounds. We are extremely happy,” he suggested.

After the visit of the stands by the authorities, and the tasting of some dishes from Nigerien know-how, the two ministers as well as the public, attended a demonstration of the artistic know-how of Nigeriens through the emblematic musical group Mamar kassey. This troupe came from Niger especially for the SNC and other artists enlivened the audience.

The community village was officially opened on April 28, 2024. For this edition it has 45 communities including 31 from Burkina and 14 foreigners. So beyond Niger, 13 other foreign countries are represented in this village. For the Minister of Culture, It is Africa in miniature and it is Africa which wins. Unity through culture is the message of the village of communities.
