Completing an inventory of the damage and inspecting the facilities adjacent to the site of the Al-Khasos explosions

The Facilities and Engineering Management Committee of the Al-Khosos City Council in Qalyubia Governorate, and the security authorities, completed the work of inventorying the apparent damage and examining the facilities adjacent to the sewage station in particular, which witnessed several explosions yesterday, Wednesday, as a result of the leakage of petroleum materials into the station.

Dr. Salwa Abu Al-Enein, head of the Al-Khosos City Council, confirmed in press statements today, Thursday, that the foundations of any of the buildings and facilities adjacent to the explosion sites were not damaged, stressing that the damage was limited to the shattering of the facades of some commercial stores and citizens’ homes adjacent to the explosion sites only, inside the new Marj sewage station. In the Al-Qalaj area, affiliated with the Khanka Police Station Department, which is linked to three stations: Al-Khanka, Al-Khasos, and Al-Marj.

The Public Prosecution inspected the site of the sewage station explosion in Al-Khosos yesterday, and also ordered an inventory of the damage caused to homes and cars surrounding the sewage station, which was actually surveyed yesterday, according to confirmations from the mayor of Al-Khosos city.

A number of eyewitnesses revealed that the sound of the explosion caused the destruction of a taxi and a number of house facades adjacent to the stations, and residents heard the sound of 3 successive explosions.

The initial inspection by the competent authorities revealed that there had been a gas leak in the 1200 m sewer line of the petroleum companies in the Greater Cairo sewer lines via pipelines. The sewer lines were mixed with petroleum materials, which led to the leak and a fire at the station, and the fire was brought under control, especially the gas and gas.

It turned out that Al-Khosos station, which witnessed the incident, serves Al-Qalaj and Al-Marj stations, and when a leak occurred in the station, it affected the rest, and 60% of the station was operated.

The Qalyubia Governorate Operations Room had received a report of a fire at sewage stations. Upon inspection, it was found that the explosion had occurred at 3 sewage stations in Al-Qalaj, Al-Khoss, and New Marj. These stations are affiliated with the Greater Cairo Sanitation Authority. 4 ambulances were dispatched, and it was found that 5 were injured. People suffered from suffocation and were transferred to Al-Khanka and Al-Salam hospitals to receive treatment. Civil protection personnel in Qalyubia were able to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring areas.

The city of Al-Khosos in Qalyubia Governorate witnessed the explosion of the new sewage station belonging to the Holding Company for Potable Water and Sanitation in Greater Cairo, which is known as the Al-Khosos explosion, which resulted in the injury of 5 people who were transferred to Al-Khanka and Al-Salam hospitals, as a result of suffocation, and they were all released.

Major General Abdul Hamid Al-Hagan, Governor of Qalyubia, accompanied by Engineer Mamdouh Raslan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Holding Company for Potable Water and Wastewater, and Dr. Salah Bayoumi, Vice President of the Holding Company for Potable Water and Wastewater, inspected the site of the explosion at the Al-Khosos water station, yesterday, which occurred as a result of the leakage of petroleum materials. To the sewage tunnel, which led to fires igniting five sites belonging to the company in the Al-Qalaj and Al-Khoss stations and the communication rooms between them.

Officials inspected the site of the explosion at Al-Khosos and Al-Qalaj station, and monitored the effects resulting from the fire, which was immediately contained, and resulted in some material losses that are being assessed.

Engineer Adel Hassan, head of the Cairo Sanitation Company, confirmed that the fire occurred as a result of a leak of petroleum materials into the sewage tunnel. The fires were controlled, in cooperation with the Civil Defense, and there were no casualties. The material losses are being assessed, and the stations are currently operating efficiently without any damage. The service provided to citizens is affected.
