canadian Conservative Party Grapples with Internal Divisions After Election
OTTAWA (AP) — Despite meaningful support within the Conservative Party and public endorsements from key figures like former leader Andrew Scheer, questions linger about the party’s direction following recent election results.
Leadership Support and Internal criticism
scheer stated,”Foil Lie Evre must continue to take on the party,” signaling continued backing from influential members. However, the party faces internal strife as members debate the factors contributing to their performance.

Blame Game: Ontario Premier Doug Ford Under Fire
jamil Chibani, a newly elected Member of Parliament from the toronto area, alleges that Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s actions undermined the Conservative campaign. Chibani claims Ford “betrayed the conservative movement,” leading to electoral losses.
While the federal and provincial Conservative parties are distinct entities, they share ideological alignment. Chibani criticized Ford, stating,”He seemed to have to intervene in our work,” and portraying ford as a “political genius we should imitate.”
Divergent views on Campaign Strategy
Conservative strategist Chambers suggests that Paili Evre, known for an aggressive political style, also bears responsibility for the party’s challenges in connecting with the broader Canadian public.

Notably, Ford did not actively campaign for Faili Evre, even after a significant provincial election victory. Reports indicate Ford was seen having coffee with Liberal Party representative Mark Carney.
Ford told reporters, “When I finally confirmed, Faili Ebr was not in our election… Actually, through his aides, he told his party lawmakers, ‘Don’t go out to help.'”
Regional Divisions and Leadership Support
Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston echoed similar sentiments, stating the Federal Conservative Party needs internal reflection.”The Conservative Party was good at pushing people, but I thought it was poor to attract,” Houston said.
However, Faili evre received support from othre western conservative leaders, including Alberta’s Daniel Smith and Saskatchewan’s Scott Moe.
Differing Perspectives on Election Defeat
cory Tennic, a controversial figure in Ford’s election staff, disputed the claim that Ford’s lack of support led to the election defeat. Tennic told the BBC that faili Evre’s failure to unite conservative voters nationwide was a more significant issue.
Tennic explained, “The definition of conservatives in each region can be different,” adding that Poylie Evre’s aggressive style resonated with western conservatives but alienated eastern voters. “They imitated Trump a lot in the campaign,” Tennic said, noting that “Donald Trump is a public enemy for most Canadians. That style is not well accepted.”
Tennic emphasized the need for the Conservative Party to develop a strategy that bridges the diverse political landscape of Canada.
When questioned about mending the party’s divisions, Ford responded, “it’s a phone call.”
