Project Design Engineer Laila Jassim Salem told the Roads and Public Spaces Beautification Oversight Committee that four new underpasses have been built to increase pedestrian traffic and facilitate access to Cornwall beach.
The underpasses will help increase the movement of people and facilitate pedestrian access to the beach without crossing the road.
Footpaths and crossings are provided for pedestrians and bicycles. Apart from the Islamic Art Museum Tunnel, these subways will also include the Al Dafna Tunnel, the Cornish Station Tunnel and the West Bay Station Tunnel.
An integrated network of routes for pedestrians and cyclists has also been established here.
