Thiruvananthapuram: Today, the state of Kerala will experience heavy rainfall, particularly in remote areas. A yellow warning has been issued for 10 areas, indicating the likelihood of heavy rain. Alappuzha and Ernakulam to Kasaragod districts are currently under a yellow alert. The Kerala State Coastal Police has extended the ban on fishing activities along the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep. The continuous rainfall is a result of low pressure systems over the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, which are expected to further intensify in the coming hours. Consequently, the state can expect continuous rainfall in the upcoming days.

The Meteorological Department has issued a rain warning for three areas tomorrow. Isolated heavy rain is predicted in some regions, and caution is advised due to the possibility of high waves and storm surge along the coast of Kerala and the southern coast of Tamil Nadu. The Central Meteorological Department suggests that isolated heavy rain is likely until October 1.

Due to the heavy rains, quarrying and mining activities in Thiruvananthapuram district have been suspended, except for essential services in hilly, kayalora, and coastal regions. Thiruvananthapuram District Collector, Jeromick George, has announced the continuation of this ban until further notice following the orange warning issued on Friday.

The Meteorological Center has forecasted ongoing rainfall in the state with the formation of low-pressure systems in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. A depression has formed in the mid-east Arabian Sea off the Konkan-Goa coast.

On Saturday, Alappuzha, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts are under a yellow alert. Further, on Sunday, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, and Kannur districts will continue to be under a yellow alert.
