Controversy Arises Over Speaker’s Remarks on Hindu Idolatry

Thiruvananthapuram – The recent comments made by Speaker AN Shamsir regarding Hindu idolatry have stirred up a wave of discontent among the faithful. The National Service Scheme (NSS) has called for an apology from Shamseer and demands his retraction of the statement. Furthermore, NSS General Secretary Sukumaran Nair expressed that Shamseer’s continuation as Speaker is no longer appropriate.

In response to Shamsir’s speech, various organizations affiliated with the Sangh Parivar criticized the Speaker. The controversial accusation made by Shamsir, suggesting that children are being taught myths from Hindu mythology instead of scientific achievements, has not gone unnoticed. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has even gone as far as filing a police complaint against Shamsir, accusing him of promoting religious animosity through his preaching.

Another contentious statement has emerged from P Jayarajan, in which he suggested that the youth morchas at the mortuary would be the appropriate response to an attack on Speaker AN Shamseer. This remark came after the leader of the Yuva Morcha issued a threat towards Shamseer, implying that he would suffer consequences similar to Joseph Mash. Additionally, the Sangh Parivar organizations have also launched protests, alleging disrespect towards Lord Ganesha.

The speaker had accused children of learning myths from Hindu mythology instead of achievements in the field of science. BJP has filed a police complaint against Shamsir, alleging that he preached in a manner that created religious rivalry.
