[마이데일리 = 박서연 기자] “Dokdo is our country” Is there any problem with calling our land our own?

Kim Seung-mo of the group Ampersand One recently held a live broadcast with members Nacamden and Makaya under the title “Ask ‘everything'” through the fan community platform Weverse.

While reading and communicating with fans’ comments, Seungmo Kim said, “Dokdo is our land.” After Kim Seung-mo made this statement, Japanese fans said, “Is it true that you said ‘Dokdo is our land’? I hope I heard it wrong. Honestly, I don’t care for either land, but it does not seem right to make such a statement.” “This is a statement, but what does it mean for an idol who wants to be active in Japan to make a political and historical statement?” Seungmo criticized Kim with words like:

Then, Korean netizens said, “That’s true, but what kind of political and historical statement is this?”, “I don’t care which side of the country it is, so why say that?”, “You can’t go in Dokdo without a passport, so there’s a lot of talk,” “Kim Seung-mo is cool,” and “From now on, I’m a fan.” I’ll do it,” Kim Seung-mo cheered.

Previously, actress Moon Geun-young also participated in the Dokdo campaign without paying attention to Japanese fans, and received protest comments from Japanese netizens.

In 2019, Moon Geun-young posted on her SNS, “‘DID YOU KNOW?’ I’m with the Dokdo campaign! #doyouknow #dokdo #korea #compathy #love for Dokdo #love for country,” along with a picture of himself wearing a campaign hoodie.

In response, some Japanese netizens expressed their displeasure, saying, “I was a fan of Moon Geun-young for a long time, but I will give up,” “I’m sorry,” “Why did you you such a statement?” and “I was a fan who liked me, but I was hurt.” Korean fans said, “They supported Moon Geun-young, saying, ‘After all, I’m a conceptual celebrity’ and ‘Japanese people’s reaction is absurd.’

In the past, YouTuber Tsuyang was also criticized by Japanese netizens when he uploaded a video featuring Dokdo shrimp mukbang with Kian84 under the title ‘Dokdo is our land, KRKRKR’ to commemorate Dokdo Day.

Tzuyang inserted the music ‘Dokdo is our land’ and posted the subtitle “Dokdo is the territory of Korea” in Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese, which drew hate comments from Japanese netizens and canceled YouTube subscriptions. Afterwards, Tzuyang mentioned the video on MBC’s ‘Radio Star’ and expressed her pride, saying, “People in Japan have canceled their subscriptions. However, the article was so popular in Korea that it became a big issue.”

Meanwhile, last year, K-pop fans performed the ‘Dokdo Challenge’ by combining the music of ‘Dokdo is Our Land’ with choreography videos of their favorite idol stars, creating a good K-pop fandom culture and attracting attention.
