The People Power Party decided to stand by its decision to nominate Do Tae-woo, a candidate for the central and southern districts of Daegu, who claimed the “possibility of North Korean intervention on May 18.”
After four rounds of discussion, including a meeting late last night, candidate Do Tae-woo issued two public apologies and said he fully respects the party’s position on including the full text of the May 18 Constitution, recognizing the sincerity of the apologies.

″However, the sincerity was recognized. Furthermore, it was approved that it be included in the preamble of the Constitution.”
Initially, the cancellation of the nomination was thought to be imminent as Emergency Committee Chairman Han Dong-hoon ordered the Diplomatic Committee to review the nomination.

″Is that person no problem at all? I do not believe. It’s a problem. Most of our people don’t think that way.”
During the leaders’ meeting it was argued that the appointment should be reconsidered in view of moderates and public sentiment in the Honam region.
However, it is said that there were many objections within the party, especially in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, that the nomination should not be cancelled, and that there was also a heated debate within the diplomatic committee.
In the Seoul Jung-Seongdong final, former MP Lee Hye-hoon defeated MP Ha Tae-kyung.
Congressman Ha, who left Busan, where he was elected for three terms, and accepted the challenge in Seoul, but suffered a bitter defeat, objected, saying the results were incredible and asked for the original data.

The People Power Party appointed emergency committee chairman Han Dong-hoon as the so-called “one-top” campaign general committee chairman and metropolitan area leading figures such as Na Kyung-won, Ahn Cheol-soo and Won Hee-ryong, as well as group leader Yoon Jae-ok, joined as co-chairs of the campaign committee.
