The national risk level has been raised from ‘risk’ to the highest level in a week
The metropolitan area rated ‘very high’ and non-metropolitan area ‘medium’ for 2 weeks in a row
(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Seo-young = The government evaluated the risk of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) outbreak as ‘very high’ at the national level last week (November 21-27).
By region, the metropolitan area was diagnosed as ‘very high’ and non-metropolitan areas as ‘medium’.
The Central Quarantine Countermeasures Headquarters (Bangdaebon) announced the results of the weekly risk assessment for COVID-19 on the 29th.
The previous week (11.14-20), the national risk level was evaluated as ‘high’, but after one week, it climbed one more stage and reached the highest stage of ‘very high’.
Risks in the metropolitan area and non-metropolitan areas also continued to be ‘very high’ and ‘medium’ for two weeks in a row, respectively, following the previous week.
“The situation in Korea is rapidly deteriorating, so it is impossible to carry out an additional normalization step,” Bang Dae-bon said at a briefing.
On the 17th, the Bangdaebon divided the risk of COVID-19 into 17 evaluation indicators in three areas, including the intensive care unit bed utilization rate, the number of weekly critically ill patients, and the rate of confirmed patients over the age of 60, such as very low, low, medium, high, and very high. It was announced that it would be evaluated in five stages.
