Cover-Up Exposed: Montenegro’s State Secretary of Health Resigns Amid Scandal
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Health of Montenegro, Aleksandar Sekulić, was fined 800 euros in the Court of Misconduct. Tonight, he admitted to everything and expressed remorse for driving his company car drunk during the day and causing an accident.
Sekulić also announced tonight that he has decided to resign from all positions.
“Today, unfortunately, I was involved in a traffic accident in which I was at fault. Fortunately, there were no injuries in this incident, but minor material damage was caused. What particularly affects me is the fact that I was under the influence of Mr. alcohol at that moment, which is completely unacceptable, especially for someone who performs public functions and has the obligation to serve as an example of responsible behavior”, Sekulić stated on the social network Facebook.
He was arrested this afternoon after he caused an accident in Podgorica in his official car, and then tried to leave the scene of the accident, according to sources.Newsfrom the police.
Everything happened around 1:00 pm in the Zagorič settlement when, according to the same information, Sekulić hit a van with his official car.
After six hours of detention, the police filed a misdemeanor charge against Sekulić and brought him to the duty judge of the Misdemeanor Court.
He was taken to the Court of Misdemeanor in Podgorica around 8:00 pm
No one was injured in the accident, but material damage was caused.
One of the interlocutors of “Vijesti” said that the police determined with a breathalyzer that Sekulić was driving the car with 1.75 parts per thousand of alcohol in his blood.
According to unofficial data, after the accident he allegedly wanted to leave the place where the accident happened, but he was prevented from doing so by the citizens, who stayed with him for the arrival of the police patrol.
Sekulić was deprived of his freedom for driving under the influence of alcohol and spent some time in the Podgorica police building.
Vijesti’s source notes that the Secretary of State drives a 40,000-euro Toyota electric car, which UNDP gave to the Ministry of Health.
The Police Administration (UP) announced that Sekulić was driving with 1.76 parts per thousand of alcohol in his blood, which is why he was arrested.
“Today in Podgorica, around 1:00 pm, a traffic accident occurred in II Street of the Montenegrin Battalion, where: MP (46) and IR (29), who reported the accident, took part. On going to the scene of the traffic accident, during the driver’s breathalyzer test, it was determined that MP was driving the vehicle with 1.76 g/kg of alcohol in his body, which is why, in accordance with the Road Traffic Safety Act, he was deprived of his liberty and will be brought before the competent judge for crimes in Podgorica,” the announcement reads.
As a member of the presidency of the People’s Democratic Party (DNP), Sekulić was elected secretary of state in the Ministry of Health at the end of January this year.
