Haryana, Uttarakhand Report New COVID-19 Cases Amid National Monitoring

As India monitors a slight increase in coronavirus cases, both Haryana and Uttarakhand are reporting new infections, prompting increased vigilance from health officials. Haryana reported 31 new cases, with Gurugram and Faridabad being the most affected areas.
According to Haryana health officials, Gurugram recorded nine new COVID-19 infections, while faridabad reported 11. additional cases surfaced in Karnal (3), Jhajjar (3), Panipat (2), and one each in Yamunanagar, Hisar, and Panchkula. The state currently has 87 active cases, with only two patients hospitalized and the remainder isolating at home.
Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao urged vigilance but reassured the public, stating, “The health and safety of every citizen is our top priority. Timely action and strict adherence to preventive measures can substantially curb the spread of the virus.”
In Uttarakhand, Dehradun reported seven new coronavirus cases, bringing the district’s active case count to 29. Health officials are tracing contacts of the newly infected individuals, with cases reported in Rishikesh, Raipur, and Sahaspur.
These new cases follow a national technical review led by Dr.Sunita Sharma, Director General of Health Services (DGHS), involving officials from the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), ICMR, and various states and union territories. The review assessed preparedness and the overall COVID-19 situation.
As of June 7, India had 5,364 active cases, most of which are mild and managed at home. As the start of the year,55 deaths have been linked to COVID-19,primarily among individuals with existing health conditions.
The central government has directed states to ensure sufficient oxygen, isolation beds, ventilators, and essential medicines. A nationwide mock drill on June 2 tested oxygen supply systems.
Researchers at IIT Guwahati have developed a new clay-virus-electrolyte sedimentation method to detect SARS-CoV-2,the virus causing COVID-19. The findings were published in the journal Applied Clay Science.
