Covid 19 | Kovid for 7955 people in the state today; 57 deaths

Thiruvananthapuram: Covid-19 has been confirmed for 7955 people in Kerala today. The worst affected districts are Ernakulam 1280, Thiruvananthapuram 985, Kozhikode 937, Thrissur 812, Kottayam 514, Kollam 500, Palakkad 470, Idukki 444, Malappuram 438, Pathanamthitta 431, Kannur 420, Alappuzha 390, Wayanad 217 and Kasaragod 117.

79,722 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The weekly infection population ratio (WIPR) is 211 wards in 158 local bodies above 10. There will be strict control here.

There are currently 3,14,640 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 3,04,170 are under home / institutional quarantine and 10,404 in hospitals. A total of 713 people were newly admitted to the hospital.

At present, out of 90,885 Kovid cases, only 9.8 per cent are admitted to hospitals / field hospitals.

Kovid-19 has been confirmed as the cause of 57 deaths in the last few days. This brings the total death toll to 26,791.

Today, 27 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state. 7562 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 321 is not clear. Forty-five health workers were affected.

A total of 11,769 people who had been diagnosed and treated were cured. Thiruvananthapuram 1351, Kollam 1039, Pathanamthitta 428, Alappuzha 552, Kottayam 577, Idukki 666, Ernakulam 1512, Thrissur 1304, Palakkad 790, Malappuram 681, Kozhikode 1694, Wayanad 312, Kannur 656 and Kasaragod 207 were cured. With this, 90,885 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 47,28,497 have so far been freed from Kovid.

93.8 per cent of the population to be vaccinated were given one dose of vaccine (2,50,68,961) and 45.3 per cent were given two dose of vaccine (1,21,21,683).

As per today’s report, out of 7995 new patients, 6705 were eligible for vaccination. Of these, 1968 took one dose and 2561 took two doses. However, 2176 people were not reported to have received the vaccine. Kovid vaccines protect people from infection and serious illness and significantly reduce the risk of hospitalization and death.

Between October 8 and 14, an average of 1,04,626 cases were treated, with only 2% requiring oxygen beds and only 1.5% needing ICUs. During this period, there were approximately 16,588 fewer reported new cases compared to the previous week. The growth rate of new cases has been reduced by 20 per cent compared to the previous week. The number of patients currently being diagnosed and treated in hospitals, field hospitals, ICUs, ventilators and oxygen beds decreased by 20%, 15%, 36%, 11%, 15% and 20% this week compared to the previous week. Hospitalization rates and serious cases show a declining trend.
