Terrorism in colleges
The party claims that Muslim communal extremist politics is deliberately trying to infiltrate Muslim organizations and create problems. Organizations like the Taliban are rejected by the vast majority of Muslims and democrats. However, the CPM said in a statement that pro-Taliban talks in the state should be taken seriously. The Jamaat-e-Islami focuses on ideological propaganda. In addition to the Jamaat-e-Islami’s daily newspaper, extremist ideologies are being spread through other social media. The CPM alleges that there is a vicious attempt to lure educated young women back into terrorism. The CPM has also accused movements, including the Welfare Party, of colluding with the Congress.
The campaign should not affect religion
The CPM has made it clear that it wants to campaign against the spread of extremist ideologies in the society. However, the party said that it should not try to create the impression that religion is wrong. The CPM suggests that student and youth movements should focus on this. The CPM also suggested that youth organizations and student movements should pay attention to this issue. The CPM’s note comes as the BJP is campaigning for the Christian minority in Kerala.
It is not uncommon for Christians to succumb to racism
The CPM has made it clear that it is not uncommon for Christian communities to succumb to communal ideologies. But the CPM says that a small section of people in Kerala have been under the influence of communalism in recent times and this should be taken seriously. There is a conscious attempt to turn the Christian community against the Muslims.
The speech made by Pala Bishop Mar Joseph Kallarangad was controversial as there was an attempt to kidnap Christian girls using love jihad and narcotics jihad and a section of the state was supporting this. The BJP had also come out in support of these remarks. This was followed by the CPM’s note.
The BJP is gaining political power by concentrating on temples
The CPM suggested that the BJP should stop gaining political power by concentrating on temples. Interventions should be made to prevent this. The party said efforts should be made to end the practice of rallying temple believers behind communalists but respect the beliefs of the believers. The party also suggested that interventions be made to prevent attempts to take believers into the hands of communalists.
