The United States imposed sanctions on nearly 400 companies and individuals who supported Russia’s invasion on the 30th.
The U.S. Treasury Department announced today that it has added 275 targets to its sanctions list for supplying advanced technology and equipment to Russia, which is waging a war of aggression against Ukraine.
It was explained that it targets individual actors and sanctions evasion networks spanning 17 countries and jurisdictions, including India, China, Turkmenistan, Thailand, and Switzerland.
India has emerged as a new detour after the United States restricted the distribution of related equipment through the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and other countries.
The U.S. government has consistently attempted to block microchips, machinery, and electronic products supplied to the defense industry from entering Russia through third countries.
◾️ “Block Ukraine’s tools of war”
“We will continue to take decisive action around the world to stop the flow of critical tools and technologies needed by Russia to wage its illegal and immoral war in Ukraine,” Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo said.
“We remain firm in our resolve to stop those who undermine and degrade Russian warfighting capabilities and aid efforts to evade or circumvent sanctions and export controls,” he said.
The Treasury Department also said it had placed more than 150 domestic Russian defense, materials, technology, manufacturing and aerospace companies on its sanctions list.
The Ministry of Finance explained that these are places that produced or procured finished military products, key components, precursors, and machinery used to manufacture and maintain weapons.
◾️ The State Department also imposed sanctions on over 120 targets
On the same day (30th), the State Department imposed sanctions on more than 120 organizations and individuals to block evasion of sanctions against Russia.
The targets of State Department sanctions include China, India, Malaysia, Thailand, and Turkye.
Senior officials of the Russian Ministry of Defense, military repair facilities, high-tech producers, and organizations related to the defense industry were also subject to sanctions.
Companies in China, including XH Smart Tech and Beijing Dynamic Power, are also subject to sanctions.
The number of individuals and institutions on which the U.S. government imposed sanctions on this day was close to 400, including 275 targets of additional sanctions by the Treasury Department.
On this day, the Ministry of Commerce also added 40 targets, including companies and research institutes, to the list of import and export restrictions due to support for Russia’s military sector.
