Burundi’s President Ndayishimiye Calls for Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection

President Ndayishimiye emphasized the need to bridge the gap between leaders and citizens, promoting a culture of listening, respect for laws, and synergy to achieve sustainable development for all.

The President expressed his support for leaders who inspire confidence and possess the necessary skills to enlighten their fellow citizens, rather than those who rely on political connections.

Effective Governance and Project Implementation

President Ndayishimiye highlighted the importance of effective governance, stating that each Ministry will be responsible for designing, monitoring, and evaluating projects, which will then be implemented by the states.

He urged leaders to adopt formulas that employ private individuals, promoting collaboration and efficiency in project implementation.

Leadership and Environmental Protection

The President called on leaders to present their annual plans in all sectors of the country’s life, rather than indulging in demagogic speeches.

He concluded by emphasizing the need for environmental protection, citing climate change as a concern for all. He advocated for the protection of water sources through anti-erosion hedges, allowing for the irrigation of fields and the preservation of clear water in Burundi’s rivers.
