Craig Levein’s New Podcast: Football, Hallucinations, and Getting Sacked
Updated June 15, 2025
Craig Levein, former manager of St. Johnstone, Hearts, leicester City, and dundee united, is launching a new series of his podcast, “Sacked in the Morning.” Levein, who was sacked by St. Johnstone in September 2024, began his podcasting career in October 2021, with Tony Pulis as his first guest. The new series promises a candid look into the world of football management, including the ups and downs of the job.
Dean Saunders, Viv Anderson, Andy Cole, Alistair Campbell, and Si Ferry are among the guests slated to appear on the upcoming podcast series. Levein aims to be more coherent than he was following a recent operation, during which he experienced intense delirium.
Levein described the experience as being on “about 14 different pills” and suffering from severe insomnia. He recounted waking up to a hallucination of a nativity play with children running around, which he initially believed was real. He also vividly remembers seeing “the devil” in a nearby cubicle.
Another hallucination involved a fictional fight between doctors, followed by a union dispute over the incident.
Now recovering, Levein promises the podcast will feature stories of real fights, embarrassing moments, sporting achievements, and the experience of being sacked.
