Tennis and Archery Secure Los Angeles Olympic Berths
Meanwhile, in the archery recurve mixed team final, the pair of Zhu Jingyi and Li Mengqi defeated India 5-3 to win the gold medal, also earning a Los Angeles Olympic quota for China and returning the nation to the top of the Asian Games archery team podium for the first time in 12 years. Zhu Jingyi, Huang Yuwei, and Yu Qi also combined to take the bronze medal in the recurve women’s team event.
Gold Medals in Canoeing, Boxing, and Cycling
China Sports Daily reported that the canoeing slalom competition concluded with the extreme kayak events, where Chen Lin won the women’s final to capture the event’s first-ever gold medal in Asian Games history, while teammate Xu Linxi earned bronze. In the men’s extreme kayak, Quan Xin and Hu Zhaoshan claimed the silver and bronze medals, respectively. In boxing, opening ceremony flag-bearer Wu Yu defeated Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Tam to win the women’s 51kg gold medal. Yang Chengyu, Bao Ziyi, and Han Xuezhen added silver medals in the women’s 60kg, women’s 75kg, and men’s 90kg divisions, while Zhao Xuan and Li Shu each secured bronze after exiting in the women’s 54kg and 65kg semifinals. Track cycling also concluded its schedule, highlighted by Yuan Liying winning the women’s sprint for her third gold medal of the Games, while Jiang Yulu took bronze.
