Proto jsem tady,
plaše se usmál expert, jenž kromě své domovské země trénoval v Japonsku či Indii, z Evropy má zkušenosti s přípravou mladých německých hráčů.
The Search for a New National Coach
The Czech Badminton Federation began its search for a new head coach in the spring following the early departure of coach James Chua from Malaysia, who stepped down due to family problems. Federation chairman Petr Martinec explained that the open selection process attracted 20 applicants from major badminton powerhouses including Indonesia, Malaysia, and India.
Za posledních asi pět let si český badminton vybudoval respekt i tím, jak se hráči kvalifikovali na velké akce včetně čtyř hráčů na olympiádě v Paříži,
Martinec stated to Sport.cz, noting that the job posting on the European Badminton Federation portal drew widespread interest from both inexperienced applicants and about five highly qualified candidates.
After initial remote communications, Martinec met Limpele in person during the world championships in India. Když procházel mezi kurty, bylo vidět, jak je v celém světě uznávaný, jak tam na něj lidé reagovali. To mě těší, jakou máme trenérskou personu,
Martinec said.
Training Plans in Plzeň and Czech Squad Objectives
Limpele will primarily prepare the Czech team at the National Training Center in Plzeň. While Asian juniors often train around 16 hours a week, Martinec noted that scale is not entirely realistic in the Czech Republic.
The federation has reached a preliminary agreement with Limpele through the end of the Olympic cycle leading to Los Angeles. Federation leadership aims to build on the historic representation in Paris, where the Czech Republic qualified players in both singles events and the men’s doubles. Current prospects look promising in women’s singles through several rising players, while the men’s doubles category features brothers Ondřej and Jiří Král.
Integration of the New Coaching Methods
As a recognized specialist in doubles play, Limpele’s expertise is expected to directly benefit players like Ondřej Král and Jiří Král. Ondřej Král, who competed in the Paris doubles tournament alongside Adam Mendrek, noted that the team is currently adjusting to the new regime while appreciating the coach’s composed demeanor and understanding that progress takes time.

Fellow Olympian Tereza Švábíková praised the incoming coach’s technical insights.
Upcoming Czech Open Tournament in Prague
Jan Louda, who recently concluded his international playing career, will transition into a coaching role as Limpele’s assistant. The newly configured coaching staff and national players will test their preparations domestically at the upcoming Yonex BYD Czech Open, scheduled to take place from Thursday through Sunday in Prague-Řepy.
