The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs Romanian citizens who are in, transiting or intend to travel to the Czech Republic that the local Hydrometeorological Institute has issued a red snow code for the regions of South Bohemia (Blatná, Dačice, Milevsko, Písek, Strakonice) and Vysočina (Moravské Budějovice , Telč), for the period December 2 – 3, 2023. During this time frame, a new layer of snow, up to 40 cm thick, will be deposited, the MAE reports.
According to the cited source, there will be significant disruptions to road transport, electricity supply and the supply of consumer goods.
“Some elements of the transport infrastructure are impracticable for rail and road traffic. The Czech authorities recommend the population to be prepared for a possible temporary lack of power in certain localities in the regions of South Bohemia and Vysočina, to follow the announcements of the authorities regarding the extension of the blocking of some roads or railways to other regions and to avoid, as much as possible, travel which are not absolutely necessary. Also, due to the heavy snow, it is difficult to travel to Vaclav Havel Airport in Prague, and the constant intervention of the authorities to clear the runway could lead to flight delays. Passengers are asked to check the official information published on the websites of the airlines”, according to the statement.
Romanian citizens can request consular assistance at the telephone numbers of the Romanian Embassy in Prague: +420 257 532090; +420 257 533965 and +420 257 530426, the calls being forwarded to the Contact and Support Center for Romanian Citizens Abroad (CCSCRS) and taken over by Call Center operators on a permanent basis.
Also, Romanian citizens who are faced with a difficult, special, emergency situation have at their disposal the diplomatic mission’s emergency telephone number: +420-607078 501.
