Czech Television increasingly relies on premieres of Slovak series during prime time, and while this acquisition isn’t always successful (the unsuccessful war of Policemen), it often bears fruit. The crime series Neuer, about a group of Bratislava murder investigators, could be among the more successful ones. The first episode of the dark detective series attracted 913,000 viewers. The series also outperformed or else heavily watched reruns of Angel Criminal (831,000 viewers this time) and thus the rest of the competition. The newcomer is also more successful at the start than ČT’s Sunday predecessor, the series Offspring, which attracted 847,000 viewers at the beginning. Now, however, it will depend on whether the Slovak crime series can retain its viewers.
Twelve contestants arrived for the competition. Bake Nation is hear! A grand and kind competition for the best creator of muffins, pies, cakes and desserts. Its goal and meaning is to show love for seemingly banal “work” such as baking. In fact, much more is hidden behind this activity, starting with respect for traditions and the skill of ancestors. The show pays tribute to the interesting skill of human hands and expresses recognition for the passion that the best home bakers must have. last but not least, the mission is to convey to viewers a view of unbelievable gems of Czech, Moravian, Silesian, but also world cuisine, which they will want to bake at home immediately after watching. Bake Nation will offer customary recipes, but also innovative procedures. Twelve finalists will have to face creative challenges, where they can practice and improve at home, they will also face tasks that they will encounter for the first time in their lives. Tereza Bebarová and Václav Kopta will assist with baking. The winners of the given rounds will be decided by the judges Josef Maršálek and mirka van Gils Slavíková. The biggest shock, however, came to the stations on Wednesday evening. It was expected that “Friends” and new episodes of “Wife Swap” woudl compete for the title of the most-watched program of the evening. However, the established brands had to bow to an unexpected victor – the documentary series “Blue Blood” on ČT2. The new series about the current state of well-known aristocratic families and contemporary aristocrats attracted 633,000 viewers to their screens with its first episode. This makes it the most-watched documentary series on ČT2 as 2008, and numbers that the station reaches in truly exceptional cases. For the second public broadcaster, viewership of over 200,000 is usually considered a success,so the start of the new “Blue Blood” exceeded even the most optimistic expectations. It will be fascinating to see whether “Blue Blood” will maintain its crushing start, or whether “Friends” (557,000) or “Wife Swap” (482,000) will return to the top.
