DaBaby Claims He’s Better Than Drake, Kendrick & J. Cole

Rapper DaBaby has asserted that his skills surpass those of Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole, confidently stating he is “the best motherf***ing rapper.” The Charlotte-based artist made the claims during a recent interview with Nadeska Alexis, doubling down on lyrics from his song “Beneficial” where he references the three prominent artists.

DaBaby specifically referenced the line in “Beneficial” – “gotta put me there with Cole, Kendrick, Drake” – and explained that while many rappers make similar comparisons, he genuinely believes in his own assessment. “A 1000%. A 1000%,” he said when asked if he truly sees himself on the same level as the established stars, according to a report from XXL.

The rapper emphasized that this confidence isn’t new, stating, “I always say… I’m the best motherf***ing rapper.” He acknowledged that self-belief is common in the rap world, but insisted his conviction goes beyond typical bravado.

DaBaby clarified he wasn’t simply echoing a common sentiment. “I don’t want it to come off like the cliché thing… like ‘you should feel like you the best too,'” he said. “That’s not what I’m saying. I feel like I have the ability to go anywhere musically.”

He attributed his confidence to his skill set, suggesting that stripped of fame and status, he could compete with the best in the industry. “If we strip everything away and just go back to being in front of a microphone… I can get in there with the best of them,” DaBaby stated.

Despite the competitive tone, DaBaby also expressed a desire to collaborate with Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole, framing his statements as a means to eventually share creative space with them. He believes publicly stating his belief in his abilities, and then demonstrating them through his music, is key to achieving that goal.
