Coach Ishii took to the podium at the end of the match, pouring beer on him, and greeted the team by saying, “Thanks to everyone, we had a great time. Next year, let’s win the league and aim to be number one in Japan!”
After being number one in Japan as a player in 1998, he also became number one in Japan as a coach in Yokohama.
In addition, her second daughter Sayaka won the women’s singles championship at the All Japan Tennis Championships held at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo this fall to decide who is the best tennis player in Japan.
