Daejeon athletes on the first day of the National Paralympic Games… 8 gold medals

At the 41st National Paralympic Games in Gyeongsangbuk-do, the Daejeon delegation set a new Korean record and set out to hunt for medals.

In the athletics division on the 20th, the first day of the event, Daejeon set a new Korean record by recording 2:24.44 in the 800m event.

Park Jun-seong has won gold medals in the National Paralympic Games for the past three years, building a monumental feat of winning gold medals in this competition for four consecutive years. After that, Kwon Ga-young recorded 9.40 in the shot put F20 event, winning gold medals in that event for three years in a row.

In Daejeon, Kim Jin-hyuk and Kim Eun-ho won additional gold medals, winning four medals in athletics alone, raising the status of Daejeon athletics.

Then, in the badminton singles, Park Kyung-ho and Shin Soon-ja took the gold medal side by side, and in swimming, Kim Soo-hyung in 200m freestyle and Miyoung Hwang in 50m in balance succeeded in winning the gold medal.

Jin Yong-sik, who showed a remarkable side in the cycling event, also won the gold medal in the 1km C3 track solo event.

From the first day, Daejeon won a total of 9 gold medals, forming a golden wave.

Daejeon was successful in hunting for medals not only in athletics but also in swimming and badminton.

In swimming, Jun-seo Kang in the 200m freestyle and Hang-seop Lee in the 50m breaststroke won a silver medal, and Bo-hoon Kim won a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke.

Then, in badminton, Kim Eung-ju and Lee Mi-ryeong each won silver medals in the men’s and women’s individual singles events, and Woo Cheol-jun and Jeong Gyeol-joon teamed up in the mixed doubles event and won bronze medals around their necks to help them hunt for medals in Daejeon.

Geun-beom Yuk, a bowling gold medalist at the 38th National Sports Festival, showed off his skills by winning a bronze medal in the TPB4 event.

Currently, Daejeon has won 9 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals, placing 8th overall, breaking a pleasant starting line.

Athletics coach Kim Sang-hyun said, “Last year, no competition was held due to Corona, and this year there were many difficulties in the training process because it was difficult to use public facilities or playgrounds. Thank you,” he said.
