With a scale of 35m wide and 10m tall, the impressive size of the stream left an undeniable impact on all who witnessed it.

As the players took the field, Daejeon Lovers unveiled a second Tongcheon stream from the fourth floor of the stadium, marking the occasion with a compelling rendition of the cheering song ‘Purple Sunset’. The mesmerizing performance featured a depiction of the region’s history, introducing a new 1.8m train spread across 20m. Woven with immense significance, the symbolic train spoke volumes about the unwavering support of the Citizen, forever present in the journey of their fans.

In a display of unyielding dedication, the members of Daejeon Lovers echoed the sentiments of solidarity by singing the cheering song ‘My Train’, bringing to life the spirited movement of a train through the Tongcheon. A metaphorical representation of the enduring presence of Citizen in the journey of their fans was further underscored by the scattering of purple and green pollen, symbolizing the colors of Citizen, in a performance that captivated all for 10 awe-inspiring minutes.

The arduous process of bringing the Tongcheon to fruition began in October, as Daejeon Lovers procured the materials and commenced the meticulous painting a week before the game. Over 100 dedicated individuals put in 6 days of relentless effort, working diligently from 10 am to 5 am on several occasions. Speaking about the collective effort, Min Kyung-il, the mastermind behind the performance, shared, “This year marked our joyous promotion and our successful campaign to sustain first-division status. In anticipation of a fresh start in the new year, we meticulously crafted the performance, set against the stunning backdrop of the Daejeon World Cup Stadium with its purple sunset.”

Expressing gratitude for the unwavering support, Min added, “Despite their demanding schedules, the members of Daejeon Lovers devoted their time to the production of the Tongcheon, driven by their love for the region and their beloved Citizen of Daejeon. While it was an arduous task, the shared endeavor to create the Tongcheon served to strengthen the bond between our members.”

Reflecting on the momentous journey, Min evoked the spirit of hope, sharing, “It took us eight years to achieve promotion to the first division. Now, I earnestly hope to see our dream become a reality, to lift the gold trophy at the Daejeon World Cup Stadium.” Beomhyun Park, who dedicated himself to the production throughout the week, echoed similar sentiments, saying, “There were moments where I wanted to give up, but witnessing the resilience of my colleagues reignited the spirit of perseverance and conviction.”

Daejeon Lovers bought materials for this stream in October and painted it starting on the 26th of last month, a week before the game.

Around 100 people took part in the production over 6 days. There were days when I pulled from 10 am to 5 am the next day.
