Dagara in the spotlight at the 6th edition of the Cultural Identity Festival (FESTIC)

Ouagadougou May 9, 2024 (AIB) – The Dagara community is in the spotlight at the 6th edition of the cultural identity festival (FESTIC) which officially opened its doors on Tuesday in the Ouidi district of Ouagadougou.

“We also put a point of honor on the Dagara community, during the night (Friday evening) of resilience to which we invite all those who would like to know this community to come and commune in a fraternal way with it,” declared the director of FESTIC, Christophe Ouédraogo.
“We have diverse cultures which are not in reality antagonistic but which can contribute to mutual enrichment so that we can live together,” added the sponsor of the festival, Atéridar Galip Somé.
For him, FESTIC is an initiative to be welcomed in that it allows communities to discover themselves, to know each other well and to work together to improve their daily lives.
Three communications on the Dagara community will be offered tomorrow Friday, by upcoming researchers who know the community well.
According to Atéridar Galip Somé, this will allow participants to discover a certain number of specificities and to ask all the questions that will allow them to get to know this community which occupies the south-western strip of Burkina well.
The Ouidi Naaba Kiiba, for his part, expressed his joy at receiving his “grandparents” who are the dagaras and wished that the community could make itself better known to a large number of people.
