Dak Prescott Focused on Championship, Not Cowboys legacy

Frisco, Texas—Dak Prescott, entering his 10th season as the Dallas Cowboys quarterback, has his sights set on a Super Bowl ring. As he prepares for another year under center, Prescott insists his primary goal is to secure a championship, not to build a lasting legacy.
Prescott, who turns 32 next month, is chasing the achievements of Cowboys legends Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach, the only quarterbacks to lead dallas to Super Bowl victories. While aware of the ancient meaning, Prescott remains grounded.
“Yeah, I want to win a championship,” Prescott said after the Cowboys’ offseason programme concluded. “The legacy, the things, whatever comes after I finish playing will take care of itself… I have to stay where my feet are.”
the Cowboys have reached the playoffs five times with Prescott at the helm, including one season with the NFC’s best record in 2016. Though, they have yet to advance to the NFC Championship Game, and Prescott holds a 2-5 playoff record.
To improve their chances, Prescott’s health is paramount. He has been sidelined by injuries in four of the last five seasons, including nine games last year following hamstring surgery. He completed the offseason program without issue and is expected to be fully cleared for training camp in Oxnard, California, which begins July 22.
“These OTAs, just the way that I’ve been seeing minicamp… just a lot of good things that have me in a great place. I’m healthy. Excited as hell,” Prescott said.
Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer emphasized that the focus is on victories.”We just talk about what it takes to win, work ethic, the sacrifice you have to make to win,” Schottenheimer said. ”This is one of the hardest working players I’ve ever been around, Dak.”
What’s next
Prescott will continue his preparations for the upcoming season, aiming to lead the Cowboys deep into the playoffs and ultimately capture that elusive Super Bowl championship.
