‘We will Not Make Same Mistake’: SC Slams High Court Over Actor Darshan’s Bail in Murder Case
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday expressed strong displeasure with the Karnataka high Court’s decision to grant bail to Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is accused in the murder of Renukaswamy. Supreme court Questions High Court’s Discretion
A bench of the Supreme Court, while hearing a plea filed by the state government challenging the High Court’s December 13, 2024, order, questioned the manner in which bail was granted. The court remarked, “We are trying to examine while exercising discretion has HC applied its mind judiciously; that’s our concern.”
The Supreme Court directly addressed Pavitra’s lawyer, stating, “All this happened because of you.You are root cause of the problem.” This pointed remark suggests that the court believes the lawyer’s arguments or actions may have influenced the High Court’s decision in a way that the Supreme court finds problematic.
The apex court assured that it would thoroughly examine all aspects of the case before making a final decision. “we will examine everything and take a call,” the bench stated, adding a stern warning, ”We will not make the same mistake as HC did.”
