This moment matters because we know what is on the line, and we know the power of governors. We know that governors have a unique responsibility, not just to push back, but governors have a unique responsibility to push forward, to show what a positive alternative can actually look like.

Wes Moore

Moore, who also serves as chair of the National Governors Association and is viewed as a potential 2028 presidential contender, praised Crowley’s career in public service. He noted that Crowley stands to make history as only the third Black governor elected in the United States, but emphasized that the ultimate goal is to eradicate child poverty and economic inequality. Economic Proposals And BadgerCare Expansion

Crowley pledged to raise Wisconsin’s minimum wage, repeal right-to-work laws, and dismantle Act 10. He also proposed an expansion of BadgerCare that would allow seniors, business owners, students, gig workers, and farmers to buy into the state program as an alternative to private health insurance. Additional stops in Black River Falls and Waukesha focused on securing funding for public schools, establishing regulatory guardrails for data centers, and generating more affordable housing stock across the state. (wispolitics.com)

Constitutional Protection For Reproductive Freedom

In Waukesha, Crowley addressed abortion access and reproductive rights, advocating for an amendment to enshrine reproductive freedom directly into the Wisconsin Constitution. (wispolitics.com)

Elected officials, they like to make women’s reproductive rights a political issue, and I hate even being the only man on this stage, Crowley told attendees. He argued that male politicians should not be involved in medical decisions except to protect their families, adding that constitutional protections would permanently remove the subject from partisan politics and keep politicians out of doctors’ offices.
