The crash took place near 7th Street and Q Street NW. According to Metro Transit Police, the bus was hit by an SUV before careening into the building. The bus breached the structure and came to rest partially inside the dining room of the restaurant.
Casualties and Emergency Response
D.C. Fire and EMS officials reported that four people were evaluated at the scene. Three adult women, including the driver of the bus, were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.
Emergency crews secured utilities and conducted a full search of the structure immediately following the impact. A specialized collapse team was deployed to assess the stability of the building to ensure the safety of first responders and the public.
The AMBAR restaurant was unoccupied at the time of the crash, which prevented further casualties within the dining area.
