The cause of death has been revealed for Todd Meadows, a rookie cast member on the reality series Deadliest Catch, following a fatal incident at sea on February 25, 2026.

According to a death certificate filed on March 4 and reported by TMZ on April 6, 2026, the 25-year-old died from drowning with probable hypothermia and submersion of body in cold water.

Meadows was working as a deckhand on the fishing vessel Aleutian Lady in the Bering Sea when the tragedy occurred. An autopsy was performed, and his death was officially ruled an accident.

Details of the Incident

The death certificate indicates that Meadows fell overboard while working on February 25, 2026. The crew of the Aleutian Lady recovered him unresponsive approximately 10 minutes after he entered the water.

Crew members attempted first aid and resuscitation efforts, but these measures were unsuccessful. The deceased was subsequently transported to Dutch Harbor, Alaska.

Legal Developments and Family Requests

Legal documents obtained on April 6, 2026, indicate that the family of Todd Meadows is preparing to file a wrongful death lawsuit. While the documents confirm the intent to sue, the specific target of the litigation remains unclear.

Meadows is survived by a partner and three children. His mother has made a plea to the network Discovery to refrain from airing any footage of the incident that led to his death.
