North Korea’s Ammunition Supply to Russia Becomes Ukraine’s Biggest Headache
As Russia’s invasion of Ukraine enters its third year, a senior Ukrainian defense official has revealed that North Korea’s supply of ammunition to Russia is becoming a significant concern.
Kirillo Budanov, the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, stated at a conference in Kiev, Ukraine, that “North Korea supplies the Russian Federation with a huge amount of shells that are very important to us, but unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about it right now.”
According to Budanov, Ukraine has successfully tracked the entire supply route of North Korean ammunition, from ports to railways, warehouses, and Russian troops on the battlefield. He emphasized that these supplies pose a greater problem than any other aid Russia receives from other countries, including Iran.
Budanov also noted that Russia is continuing to develop its own weapons, with a significant increase in the production of the short-range ballistic missile Iskander. Additionally, the production of guided bombs has also increased substantially.
These weapons are being used at tactical depth, making them a huge problem on the front lines. As a result, Ukrainian soldiers close to the front lines are the most affected.
Meanwhile, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met with Russian State Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu in Pyongyang to discuss a range of bilateral and international topics.
