The cause of the explosion, which happened in the attic of the factory, is still unknown. The blast triggered a fire that broke out in the facility, prompting a swift response from emergency services.

Medical teams rushed the injured to nearby hospitals, where they received treatment. Firefighters worked tirelessly to control the fire and minimize damage to the factory.

Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yusuf Alemdar stated that initial findings suggested the explosion occurred in the attic, adding that efforts were being made to control the fire as soon as possible.

Sakarya Governor Yaşar Karadeniz reported that 57 workers and two kitchen staff members were present at the factory during the explosion. Initial assessments indicated that the blast occurred in the mill section.

Later, the Sakarya Governorate announced that one person was found dead in the debris, and the number of injured had risen to 30. Two of the seriously injured were intubated, and three firefighters were slightly injured during cooling efforts.

Deputy Health Minister Halim Özçevik provided an update on the condition of the injured, stating that five had been released, including one firefighter. Two patients were intubated, and one was transferred to Istanbul due to their critical condition.

Özçevik also mentioned that a 12-year-old child, who had accompanied his father to work, was among the injured. Fortunately, the child is in good condition.

The worker who lost his life in the explosion was identified as 27-year-old Mesut Simay. His body was found on the stairs of the factory’s fifth floor and taken to a forensic center for DNA testing to confirm his identity.
