Al-Khanqa, Egypt – A powerful explosion ripped through a gas pipeline in teh al-Khanqa area of Qalyubia Governorate late Tuesday, sending flames soaring into the night sky and leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The blast, which occurred on the Belbeis Desert Road, claimed the life of one individual and injured eight others.

The incident unfolded shortly after 10:00 p.m. local time when a loader accidentally struck the gas line, igniting a massive inferno.

“Suddenly we heard a huge explosion and flames shot up into the sky,” recounted an eyewitness. “We rushed to help the injured, but the smoke was thick and the fire was moving at a frightening speed.”

More than 20 fire engines and five tactical water tanks raced to the scene, battling the blaze for hours.Nine ambulances transported the injured to Al Salam hospital for treatment.

Firefighters faced significant challenges due to the rapid spread of flames and dense smoke,which hampered visibility and breathing. Despite the harrowing conditions, civil protection teams displayed remarkable efficiency in containing the fire and preventing it from engulfing nearby residential areas. Cooling operations continued throughout the night to ensure there were no lingering threats.

The explosion resulted in the destruction of four heavy transport vehicles and two loaders, along with significant damage to the surrounding infrastructure.
