Suicide Squad Game’s Final Season Arrives,Offline mode Coming Soon
UPDATE 11:12 PM: Rocksteady, the developer behind the beleaguered live-service game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, has confirmed that its upcoming fourth post-launch season will be its last. While no further content is planned, servers will remain active indefinitely, adn a new offline mode will launch later this week.
The news was shared in a Season 4 Deep Dive on the official Suicide Squad website. Development of the game officially concludes with the launch of Season 4 Episode 8 on January 14, 2025. “This will serve as the last seasonal/episodic content for Suicide squad: Kill the Justice league,” the accompanying FAQ states.
Players will still be able to enjoy cooperative gameplay with friends and access all previous seasonal content. The launch of Season 4 Episode 7 on December 10th (marking the official start of Season 4) will also introduce a new offline mode. This mode allows players to experience the game’s main story campaign and all post-launch seasonal content without an internet connection.More details, including the availability of specific content in offline mode, can be found in Rocksteady’s FAQ.
Back in February, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels publicly acknowledged the game’s underwhelming performance, stating it “fallen short” of expectations.Adding to the disappointment, a July report shed light on potential reasons behind the game’s struggles. Citing sources familiar with the development, the report pointed to a culture of perfectionism within Rocksteady, a genre shift that didn’t resonate with fans, and a constantly evolving vision for the game as contributing factors to its failure.
The question now looms: can Rocksteady recover from this setback? The studio has a proven track record of delivering critically acclaimed titles, but the misstep with Suicide Squad raises concerns about their future. Onyl time will tell if Rocksteady can regain its footing and deliver another hit.
