Defeating Bosses in Sony’s Stellar Blade Using Only Long Range Mode: An Experimental Strategy

While playing the third episode of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s “Stellar Blade”, a question suddenly came to mind. “Will Eve be able to defeat the boss without using Blood Edge?”

To use the long range mode in Stella Blade, you need bullets. The amount of ammo is limited for each battle, and if you shoot them all, you won’t be able to use the long range mode. I experimented briefly when the specs were low, but had no luck.

Coincidentally, in the third game, my character’s specs had increased considerably through the new game plus mode, and I had secured exospin and equipment related to long-distance attacks, so to satisfy my sudden curiosity, I experimented the boss in front of him. Myself.

■ Experimental method

– The new drone update in game plus mode has been completed.

Remote Mode: Use bullets, buckshot, hot bombs, blaster cells and stingers.

Other tools: Use concussion grenades, pulse grenades and smart mines

Avoid: Just dodge

can not be used: All Blood Edge techniques, including Just Parrying, Blink, Taki Mode, etc.

※ For explanation purposes, the boss description and screenshots are attached to the content described below, so if you want to avoid spoilers, please click back.

This boss boasts the fastest movement speed in Stella Blade. It is the optimal test subject. To avoid spoilers I won’t name names now. To give you a hint, this is the boss you will encounter just before the final battle.

The experimental method consists of facing the boss only in ranged mode and with grenades without bloody attacks, including parries, on normal difficulty. There were no restrictions on the types of bullets and grenades, and only Just Dodge was permitted as a means of evasion.

In terms of character specs, all features of the drone’s long-range mode added with New Game Plus have been improved. Installation of Exospine and gears is as follows.

■ Wear equipment

– Success in the perfect dodge is directly related to survival.

① Eagle Eye type exospine

Ranged attack power increased by 10%

Increased the maximum capacity of all ammo

When making a long-distance attack on an enemy’s weak point, the number of bullets that hit has a certain probability.

② Suppressive type exospine

Shield penetration increased by 18%

Enemy downtime increased

Damage dealt to downed enemies increased by 18%

③ 3-star long-distance reinforcement equipment

Ranged attack power increased by 8%

④ 2-star long-distance reinforcement equipment

Ranged attack power increased by 6.5%

⑤ 3-star double-edged sword

Attack power increased by 25%, damage received increased by 38%

⑥ Double-edged Sword Gear Mk2 3 stars

Attack power increased by 38%, damage received increased by 57%

When I first tried it, I was curious if the double-edged sword effect would apply at long distances, so I tried it out and felt the firepower increase. It could be due to mood, so further testing is needed, but it is assumed that the attack power extends to long-distance mode.

The battle with Raven began with excitement. To make sure there was enough firepower, we used the “Stinger”, which is the easiest to hit. It was confirmed that the phase changed as all 35 stingers were used. The firepower seemed sufficient.

After using all the stingers, I used “Sparking Bombs” and “Shrapnel Bullets”. There was a problem here. The speed of Raven’s gimmick was so fast that he was exposed to the gimmick before he could attack. Furthermore, since he wore two double-edged swords, he died after being hit 4 times in a row after moving at high speed even at full HP.

– Success in the perfect dodge is directly related to survival.

Some bosses have the gimmick of blocking annihilation techniques with projectiles, so to prepare I only responded with the remaining projectiles, excluding projectiles.

In Phase 2, Raydle’s movement and attack speed increased further, so it seemed necessary to readjust the ammo placement. The plan was modified to place the Stinger, a guided bomb, in the intermediate and late phase and change the phase to hot bombs and pellets.

In the process, I found that the Shock Grenade → Blaster Cell combo was quite useful. As the downtime increased due to the suppression type Exospine effect, there was enough time to attack with the blaster cell.

After 6-7 attempts, I managed to kill Raven using only ranged mode, even though I used the WB pump. Wouldn’t it have been more relaxing since detaching the double-edged sword would have significantly increased survival? Ever since I discovered its potential with Raven, I wanted to challenge Providence, the final boss.

– Success in the perfect dodge is directly related to survival.

As for the results, Providence managed to be defeated even using only the long distance mode. As mentioned above, the double-edged sword has been replaced with defense gear for survival, so unless you hit the 4-in-a-row orb gimmick, you wouldn’t die right away.

However, Providence was a little more difficult because he had quick dodge timing when hit by a blaster and had a variety of long-distance and wide-area attacks, unlike Raven, who prefers close combat. Plus, she has a lot of HP and there’s a timing block to the projectile annihilation gimmick, so if you don’t pay attention to the hit rate, you’ll run out of ammo.

The mission was successful using 35 slingers, 4 blasters, 38 shells, 10 burn bombs and 13 buckshot. The remaining projectiles were 17 shells and 2 pellets.

I didn’t try hard mode because I wasn’t sure, but I expect users with advanced skills to be able to do it. However, since the boss has more HP than in normal mode, you will run out of ammo if you don’t pay attention to your hit rate.

– Success in the perfect dodge is directly related to survival.

After successfully defeating Providence, I wanted to defeat all the bosses in ranged mode for the fourth time. The older native decided to continue and did not challenge immediately, but saved it for the fun of the fourth round.

Thanks to this, I was able to enjoy shooting games in Stella Blade. Of course, the feel of the controls in remote mode was a bit disappointing. It’s like using a firearm that hasn’t been zeroed. However, it’s not to the point where you can’t adapt.

There are also obvious disadvantages. Since you have to replenish your ammo every time you retry, you waste a lot of gold. When I try again, I think it would be best to start with fully loaded shells. The method of manually reloading each projectile proved to be quite inconvenient during the testing process. A little advice. When you press L2, bullets are loaded to the maximum amount.

■ Boss defeat test results in long range mode only

– Giga HP remaining after hitting all 55 projectiles in normal mode

– Experiment results in normal mode are possible. (Excluding the Karakuri boss who cannot use drones)

– The difficulty is easier than melee attack game because you can block the monster’s powerful gimmick.

– If you learn all additional skills in New Game Plus mode, the difficulty level becomes easier.

– The disadvantage is that you have to manually reload the bullets for each attempt.

– Buying bullets consumes a lot of gold.

Although it was explained in a great way, it is obvious that it is actually a strategy. Since it has a lot of firepower, you just need to dodge and hit the enemy’s attacks well using perfect dodging and movement. It was a realm of possibilities and impossibilities, and the bottom line was that it was possible based on the normal mode.

There is a feeling of being pressured by specifications. Attacks in long range mode have the effect of blocking the boss’ gimmick. If you get the timing and angle right, you can keep dealing damage while stunned, so it was pretty easy to defeat him.

At the time of publishing this article, we also experimented with the “Juggernaut” and it was much easier than facing it in close combat. If I have time, I’ll have to try New Game Plus without additional skills next time.

So far, the reporter has gotten to the finale three ways: hard mode, beta skill upgrade tree, and wearing only the leather suit. You may think you’re suffering voluntarily, but the enjoyment you get from each game varies greatly. If you want to enjoy the second experience while appreciating the ending even more, we recommend choosing a unique way to enjoy it.
