- Demco Automation has donated a new automated assembly system to the mechatronics program at Upper Bucks County Technical School (UBCTS) in Perkasie, Pennsylvania.
- Mechatronics, a multidisciplinary field combining mechanical engineering, electronics, computer control and systems engineering, is central to modern industrial operations.
- The donated equipment will be integrated directly into the UBCTS curriculum.
Demco Automation has donated a new automated assembly system to the mechatronics program at Upper Bucks County Technical School (UBCTS) in Perkasie, Pennsylvania. The state-of-the-art training system is valued at $73,000 and was designed and built specifically for the school’s curriculum.
Mechatronics, a multidisciplinary field combining mechanical engineering, electronics, computer control and systems engineering, is central to modern industrial operations. By providing students with hands-on access to technology utilized in contemporary manufacturing, the donation aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industrial application.
Technical Integration and Educational Goals
The donated equipment will be integrated directly into the UBCTS curriculum. The system is designed to facilitate the development of hands-on labs that simulate real-world industrial environments, preparing students for careers in automation and manufacturing.
Students using the system will focus on several critical technical competencies, including:
- System troubleshooting and diagnosis.
- Repair of automated equipment.
- The processes involved in building automated systems.
Stephen Maund, President and CEO of Demco Automation, stated that the goal of the donation is to empower students with technology that reflects real industrial applications
and to inspire future professionals in the automation sector.
This donation is not only an investment in our region’s economic future, but more importantly, an investment in our students.

Regional Workforce Development
The partnership between Demco Automation and UBCTS is part of a broader effort to support STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and CTE (Career & Technical Education) initiatives. Pennsylvania State Senator Jarrett Coleman noted that such partnerships provide students with a competitive edge
and demonstrate how public and private sectors can collaborate to meet community needs.

This initiative aligns with broader industry trends focused on workforce empowerment through intelligent automation. On April 15, 2026, Demco Automation is scheduled to participate in the Automation and Manufacturing Technology (AMT) Show in Breinigsville, Pennsylvania, where the company will showcase solutions intended to improve employee attraction and retention.
At the AMT 2026 event, the company will highlight strategies for utilizing automated systems to capture tribal knowledge
—the formalization and transfer of expertise from retiring veteran workers to the next generation of technicians. The company’s focus includes the elimination of repetitive, mundane tasks to allow workers to engage in high-value problem solving.
By combining educational donations with industrial showcases, the effort emphasizes a sustainable approach to the human-machine partnership, aiming to create high-tech environments that appeal to new talent while reducing the physical demands on experienced staff.
