Kwon Chil-seung, the chief spokesman of the Democratic Party, said in a briefing session at the National Assembly that day, “There is controversy about whether or not the president will make a statement on the issue of the release of contaminated water from Fukushima and imports . marine products, and public concern is growing.”

He said, “The president’s office clarified very late that there was no mention of contaminated water and that Fukushima seafood would never come in, but doubts remain undiminished.” I doubt he was sympathetic to Japan’s position,” he said.
