Deputy Prime Minister Choi held the 2nd Foreign Economic Advisory Meeting at the Seoul Government Complex on the 23rd and said, “Due to the recent Israel-Iran incident, uncertainty in the global political and economic environment is now higher than ever since the forward.”
The External Economic Advisory Council is a non-permanent meeting that was introduced this year and is held to discuss strategic responses with experts in response to the recent surge in global uncertainty.
Present at this meeting were Professor Park Hyun-do of Sogang University, Director of the Korea Institute of Energy Economics Jeong Jun-hwan, Director of the Middle East Center of the Asan Institute for Policy Studies Jang Ji-hyang, and Professor Seong Il- gwang from Korea University.
Experts said, “This situation in the Middle East acts as a very big uncertainty factor as the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues, and as a direct conflict between Israel and Iran occurs,” and asked for understanding and close examination of trends.
Deputy Prime Minister Choi said, “We will monitor the progress of the Middle East situation and market trends thoroughly and respond in a comprehensive manner to prevent negative effects on our economy.”
