Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu Visits Flood Victims in Slobozia Conachi
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, Sunday morning, was at the victims‘ camp in Slobozia Conachi. The Prime Minister and the President of the Senate, Nicolae Ciucă, spent the night in Galati, where they, together with the county and the local authorities, sought solutions for the victims.
Marcel Ciolacu sent his condolences to the bereaved families.
We don’t have very good news. Two people are still missing two nights ago. Very important is the fact that after the flood came, no matter how unexpected and announced at short notice, as is usually the case, there was still no loss of human life.
Things, regarding the battle with the waters, were under control, said Prime Minister Ciolacu.
The Minister of the Environment came with the whole team of experts from Apele Ronâne. The team will stay together with those from the Prefecture and the president of the County Council to find the best solutions
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu arrived at the victims’ camp in Slobozia Conachi, Galați county, around 9:00 am
Ciolacu, together with the Ministers of Defence, Interior and Environment and the head of the DSU, Raed Arafat, went to Slobozia Conachi, a town in Galati that was severely affected by flooding, on Saturday. They had a crisis cell in the Galati County Council, where several decisions were made to help the victims.
On Saturday night, the Government announced that 271 people were evacuated and moved to safety, with the authorities in dialogue with 14 other residents of Pechea Commune to convince them to go to a safe zone.
For the accommodation of the vacant population, 30 modular homes have already been set up out of the 50 from the first batch already sent to the affected areas, each with the capacity to accommodate four people . The Prime Minister asked for the addition of another 200 modular homes, which will be operated as an emergency and located in safe areas, established together with representatives of Romanian Waters.
