Law enforcement authorities apprehended four individuals for brandishing the Palestinian flag during the Pakistan-Bangladesh World Cup cricket match at Kolkata’s Eden Garden Stadium. The detained individuals consist of two residents from Jharkhand, one from Kolkata, and another from Howrah, confirmed the police.

Two of the suspects were witnessed displaying the flag in close proximity to gate number 6 of the stadium, while the other two were positioned near Block G1. Authorities are currently collecting additional information about their identities, and the four individuals are currently undergoing thorough interrogation.

The detainees claimed that their action was in protest against Israel, with the police further disclosing that the quartet had intentionally selected the venue of the international competition for their demonstration.

Kolkata: Four people were detained by the police for waving the Palestinian flag during the Pakistan Bangladesh World Cup cricket match at the Eden Garden Stadium in Kolkata. Among those who have been arrested, two are from Jharkhand, one is from Kolkata and the other is from Howrah, police said.

Two people blew the flag from near gate number 6 of the stadium. Two others were near Block G1. The police said that details about them are being collected and that the four are being questioned in custody.

They told the police they were protesting against Israel. According to the police, the location of the international competition was chosen by the four for this purpose.
