Updated June 27,2025
A federal jury is now deliberating the fate of sean “Diddy” Combs after a seven-week trial on sex trafficking charges. Prosecutor Christy Slavik delivered a nearly five-hour closing statement Thursday, urging jurors to convict the music mogul, arguing he used “power, violence and fear” to exploit victims.
Slavik painted a picture of Combs leveraging his influence and business empire to carry out years of criminal behavior. “No one could stop him,” Slavik said, alleging that Combs used his inner circle, money and influence to cover up his crimes for two decades.

Combs has pleaded not guilty to racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for the purpose of prostitution.A conviction on all counts could result in a life sentence. Lead defense attorney Marc Agnifilo is set to present his closing arguments Friday.
The prosecution’s case hinges on allegations that Combs used illegal actions to coerce victims. Slavik clarified that the trial is not about “criminalizing dysfunctional relationships or unconventional sexual conduct,” but about holding Combs accountable for alleged sex trafficking and prostitution.
Jurors were told they only need to find one instance where the elements of sex trafficking were met to convict Combs. “So, if there was one time…when the defendant knew or recklessly disregarded that [a victim] was participating because of his lies, his threats or his violence, that’s it,” Slavik stated.
Prosecutors presented evidence of Combs allegedly arranging travel for women to prostitution.Slavik showed text messages and American Express statements related to travel and hotel expenses for escorts.
“Freak-offs did not occur in isolation. The defendant wanted them all the time,” Slavik told the jury, referencing instances where Combs allegedly flew in escorts from across the country to watch them engage in sexual acts.
What’s next
The jury will continue deliberations to determine whether the prosecution has proven beyond a reasonable doubt that sean “Diddy” Combs is guilty of sex trafficking and related charges. The outcome of the trial could have notable implications for Combs’ future and legacy.
