Digital, Sree Narayana University VC Governors Show Case Notice

Thiruvananthapuram: The governor’s show cause notice to the vice chancellors of two universities in the state. Guru Sree Narayana Digital University and Open University have sent notices to the VCs. According to the Supreme Court ruling in the KTU case, Digital University VC Saji Gopinath and Sree Narayana Guru University Open VC Mubarak Pasha are not eligible to continue in their current posts, according to the show cause notice.

UGC rules have been violated in appointing both. The governor’s notice says that the reason for not going out should be given by November 4. The deadline for responding to nine other Vice-Chancellors is November 3, and the deadline for responding to the two VCs this is November 4. After hearing their explanation, the governor will proceed with further steps.

Meanwhile, Kerala University Vice-Chancellor VP Mahadevan Pillai, who retired today, should also give an explanation to the Governor. Doubts were raised as to whether the steps taken by the Governor regarding the resignation of the VCs should be followed as he has resigned. Meanwhile, Raj Bhavan sources said the retired VCs should also give an explanation. The explanation is that he was the Vice-Chancellor at the time of the Supreme Court’s judgment and that the appointments were contrary to UGC rules and were invalid according to the court’s judgment.

Meanwhile, the CPM has also decided to intensify its protest against the governor. The Left Front has decided to participate in the protest in front of the Raj Bhavan on November 15. CPM state secretary MV Govindan will open the protest programme. It has not been decided whether Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will participate in the protest. The information received from the leaders is that the matter will be decided later. There were earlier reports that the Prime Minister could be present.

Along with the protest program in front of Raj Bhavan, it was decided to organize protest groups in all the district headquarters. It has also been decided to hold a meeting of the leaders of the Left Front before the protest in order to evaluate the method of protest. But the protests against the governor have started from today. Protests will be held across the state today and tomorrow. A protest rally will be held in Palayam today at 5 pm. It is under the leadership of CPM state secretary MV Govindan.
