Taewoong Choi, head coach of Hyundai Capital, a professional volleyball team, was careful in recruiting new foreign players. As he suffered from the loss of three foreign players to injuries last season, coach Choi Tae-woong sent his staff to Europe and put all his heart into the draft for foreign players.

Coach Choi Tae-woong selected Orreol Cameho (36, Russia) as the 2nd pick in the ‘2022 KOVO Men’s Foreign Player Draft’ held at the Rivera Hotel in Cheongdam, Seoul on the 29th.

Orreol played for LIG Insurance (currently KB Insurance) in the 2012-13 season, and in the 2015-16 season, under Hyundai Capital, contributed greatly to the team’s achievement of first place in the regular league. During his time at Hyundai Capital, O’Reol was active in the scoring division, ranking 4th.

In this draft, coach Choi Tae-woong was more desperate than ever.

The 2021-22 season Hyundai Capital’s ambitious selection Voydar Vusevich suffered an injury before the start of the season. He was rushed into the season as a substitute for Ronald Jimenez, but Jimenez was also injured and had to be replaced again.

Hyundai Capital tried to make a final rebound by recruiting Felipe Anton Bandero, who has a lot of experience in the Korean stage, but Felipe also left the team due to an injury.

In the end, Hyundai Capital finished the season at the bottom for the first time since its inception. Following the 2020-21 season, he failed to establish a relationship with spring volleyball for the second time in a row.

After experiencing a major failure, coach Choi Tae-woong and the club made a big decision to select foreign players who had success or failure in one season.

From the beginning of this month to just before the draft, Hyundai Capital dispatched team staff to Europe to check the players they noticed. It was a measure to solve the difficulty of not being able to directly check the skills of the players on the spot in the aftermath of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

After being nominated for Oreol, coach Choi Tae-woong said, “Last season, I suffered from injuries to foreign players. So, I sent the staff to the field to see and select them. The staff checked some players and gave me accurate answers about their skills and physical condition. gave,” he explained.

He continued, “The staff who watched Oreol on the field gave an evaluation that the movement was better than the video. did,” he added.

Orreol, who returned to Hyundai Capital, said, “I am more excited to return to Korea, especially Hyundai Capital. Hyundai Capital in the 2015-16 season was a fantastic team. I always wanted to play again.” However, it will not be a big problem to achieve good results.”
