Director Kim Yeon-kyung and Lavarini, time to say goodbye… “Thank you Captain”

On the morning of the 9th, the Korean Volleyball Association released a video on the SNS of the coaches, including coach Lavarini, and players such as Kim Yeon-kyung and Kim Hee-jin.

Wearing masks, they hugged each other and patted each other’s backs to appease each other’s regrets. In particular, coach Lavarini showed affection, hugging a player and stroking his hair again.

The association said, “I wanted to be with the players until the end, but unfortunately due to self-isolation, they left first, coach Stefano Lavarini, coach Cesar Hernandez Gonzalez, and power analysis Andrea Biacioli. Please applaud them for doing their best.”

Kim Yeon-kyung said to director Lavarini through SNS the day before, “What can I say… Thank you very much. You gave us so much.” Director Lavarini said, “Thank you, Captain. you gave me more And you are such an incredible person.”

The Tokyo Olympics became the last stage with Kim Yeon-kyung and coach Lavarini.

Kim Yeon-kyung announced her retirement from the national team after finishing the bronze medal match against Serbia at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics the day before, and Lavarini has signed a contract with the association until this tournament.

The association offered Lavarini a contract extension, and it is reported that Lavarini said, “After the Olympics, I will return to Italy and have a family meeting to make a decision.”

Oh Han-nam, president of the Korea Volleyball Association, said, “(Director Lavarini) is thinking about living abroad for a long time away from his family because his mother is old.”
