Nintendo has released a new trailer showcasing every Donkey Kong Country game available on Switch. This comes ahead of the launch of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD on January 16, 2024.
If you have the standard Nintendo Switch Online subscription, you can play all the SNES games from this series now. These include Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest, and Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble.
Additionally, you can purchase Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze separately. This is a re-release of the Wii U game by Retro Studios. It introduces a new Funky Mode while keeping the original experience intact.
The trailer also previews Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, the third release from Retro Studios in this franchise. The graphics look better than the first trailer shown earlier this year. Although it’s still a basic remaster, developer Forever Entertainment has improved the visuals to align more closely with Tropical Freeze.
Nintendo’s focus on the Donkey Kong franchise suggests a marketing push for its new theme park expansion in Japan. There are also hints of a potential new Donkey Kong game, possibly a crossover with a 3D Mario game.
