⁣ Abu Dhabi is set to become home to⁤ a new Disney⁢ theme park resort, marking the⁢ entertainment⁤ giant’s seventh such destination worldwide. The Walt Disney Company announced Wednesday an agreement with Miral, an immersive destination and experiences company, to develop the park on Yas Island in the United Arab Emirates.

iger, during an interview Wednesday, told that imagineers have⁤ already commenced designing the park. ‍However, he declined to provide a specific opening date.

“We’re ⁣not pinning down ⁣a date yet,” Iger said. “It typically takes us between 18 months and two years to design and fully develop and approximately five years to build but we’re not making any commitments right now.”

The announcement follows Disney’s report of⁢ strong fiscal second-quarter results,with its experiences business – including parks,cruises,resorts,and consumer products – showing a 6% increase in year-over-year revenue.

This segment accounted for 37% of Disney’s overall revenue in fiscal 2024 ⁣and nearly 60% of its operating income.

“Experiences is ⁤obviously a critical business for Disney and also an significant growth platform,” Iger said during the company’s second-quarter earnings call.
