Mr. Chen, a retiree in his 60s, suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes. Although I took medicine regularly, my diabetes was not well controlled. There are two main organs in the head that can cause dizziness, one is the middle ear and the other is the cerebellum.
The organs of balance and hearing are present in the middle ear. Displacement of some ear liths and viral infection can also cause abnormal dizziness, tinnitus, hearing impairment and other symptoms.
If there is a problem with the cerebellum, it is usually accompanied by headaches, obvious incoordination of the limbs and even eye tremors. Mr Chen said he had seen an ENT and that there were no problems, and the MRI of the brain was also normal.
“But…” I continued, too high or too low fluctuations in blood sugar can also cause dizziness, also affect peripheral nerves and damage their functions.
These nerve lines may be sensory nerves, causing paralysis of the hands and feet; furthermore, the sensitivity of the muscles and joints will also be affected, influencing the brain’s control over the body’s balance.
Excess blood sugar can also affect the autonomic nervous system, which controls heart rate, blood pressure and other automatic operations without thinking. Affected autonomic nerves cause blood pressure fluctuations, which also cause dizziness.
Mr. Chen never cared about his blood sugar level, and that was what made him dizzy.
